Chase Giving update..

...Update on the Facebook Chase Community Giving Program... the GWENDOLYN STRONG FOUNDATION pulled through and placed 6th out of 500 earning us a sweet 100 g's for SMA research bringing the total from 2 rounds to $125,000!! Perhaps even more important than the money was the fact that we raised a heck of a lot of awareness for SMA. Pretty amazing considering the competition and the resources that were available to them. I thank each and every one of you for voting to help END this horrible disease. I am so amazed and inspired by the Strongs, and each and every other SMA family that is busting their butts doing every last thing they can to see their kids LIVE..

There were a handful of my facebook friends who posted their pleas for more votes several times and for this I am forever thankful.. YOU ALL made a difference! ... I don't enjoy attempting to give people a glimpse of my son's daily struggles because I do not like people to feel sorry for me.. or worse, feel sorry for him. I loathe pity. Compassion, however, I like. For this reason, I try to keep this blog a happy place and not go into too much detail about all the crap that comes w/ this disease. Because of this I fear people don't understand how serious and devastating this disease that we battle every day is... SMA. I need to do a better job of 'keepin it real" on this blog.. (does anybody read this?) Research money is soooooo important because without a cure, SMA types 1 and 2 is eventually fatal... SO MUCH is already known about SMA that a cure is within grasp, we just NEED MONEY. Be on the look out for a fundraiser this summer or fall.. not sure what or when but my wheels are spinning. Taysen loves to play with his little animals that he collects... every single day he plays animals. In this picture he was playing "dog show" and had them all lined up. He knows most of the breeds, and also has nicknames for them. i.e. the German Shepherd's name is "Germie" --creative, right??

It only cost me 2 cookies each to get them to cooperate for a picture together..
